Susie started learning about physical fitness during her formative years where she developed an interest in maintaining a healthy work-out regime. While at school, she studied Ballet for eight years in Scotland. Where she took and passed the Royal Ballet examinations, learning strict discipline, body alignment and body movement.

While ballet formed the basis of her passion for fitness, as an asthmatic, Susie had to learn about aspects of fitness in order to pursue goals she set for herself. Using proper breathing techniques and pushing her physical limits, she used this self-taught knowledge to become an avid runner.

While in Japan, Susie pursued a stringent course of fitness for the ultimate goal of climbing Mt. Fuji. She wondered how her breathing would be affected at higher altitudes where the air would thin out. Surprisingly the thin air did not affect her at all, whereas her climbing partner, an experienced climber with no asthma noticed dramatic effects. She went on to climb the mountain again two weeks later, again with no ill effects.

For the last three years Susie has worked at American Family Fitness, first as a fitness counselor where she taught large groups in the STRIVE circuit along with individual fitness orientations. She improved American Family University processes in order to help members achieve their personal fitness goals and introduce them to fitness as a way of life.

She has been studying PITAIYO for three years and has been teaching at American Family Fitness in Fredericksburg Virginia since April 2009 as well as Marine Corps Base Quantico since November 2009. Susie enjoys "spreading the word" of this innovative class around Virginia and eventually across the globe.

Susie continues to read many books, magazines and articles on fitness and nutrition. She enjoys such TV shows as "The Biggest Loser", "Dr Oz" and BBC America’s "You Are What You Eat" and is continually learning as the science of fitness progresses through new discoveries.
